Our operational career stretches back over five decades. During this time, the Falcon family of jets have built a global reputation for durability, style and luxury.
Yet Falcons remain lighter and stronger than other aircraft for a given level of performance.

Dassault’s military design heritage, combined with our experience in transonic and supersonic design, advanced 3D CAD/CAM techniques and intelligent use of sophisticated materials, gives all our aircraft a superior strength-to-weight ratio. Falcons have no life limits on primary structural components. Which means less maintenance and fewer replacements (and only Falcons come with no structurally related airspeed limits).

The Falcon 2000 was the world’s first aircraft to be designed with a digital mock-up. This allowed our engineers to clearly visualize the general layout, how parts fit together and how to optimize the location of systems and equipment within the airframe well in advance of production.

A perfect example of our engineers’ structural skill is the Piano Junction which joins the main wing sections to the fuselage. Consisting of a hundred high-strength bolts, the Piano Junction allows wings to be readily replaced or interchanged after a poor landing, or takeoff roll or collision with a ramp-vehicle. It also allows the same wing to be used on different models with varying cabin widths, making for more efficient parts distribution.

During rigorous structural trials, the Falcon 7X - which uses inconel instead of titanium bolts in its Piano Junction - was tested with the most critical of the wing bolts missing. It still passed the test with flying colors, proof positive of the concept’s failsafe design.
